SERGIO OLIVA

Sergio was born on 4th July 1941. Trully a gifted athlete blessed with possibly the best genetics ever.

Sergio began as a weightlifter then switched to bodybuilding after escaping Cuba which was controlled by Fidel Castro. It was in 1961 at the Pan American Games held in Kingston, Jamaica that sergio fled for his freedom along with the rest of the Cuban weightlifting team.

Sergio has always worked and trained hard and heavy with workouts lasting as long as 3 hours!! And this was after a days grueling work shift! Blessed with superior genetics his physique progressed to 'Myth' proportions. He won the 1967, 1968 and 1969 Mr. Olympia. I personally feel he could have and should have won more.

Even the great Arnold has stated that Sergio was the best. What do you think?

Sergio and Arnold's battles on the Mr. Olympia stage will forever be held in our memories. There will never ever be another Sergio or will there?.....Sergio's son is currently competing and is showing promise. Look out for Sergio Jnr. in the near future.
