  1. I was watching the Weightlifting on the BBC there and one of the presenters stated that Weightlifting may be removed from the Olympic Games due to Doping Scandals in the lead up to the 2020 Games. Several countries were banned from competing because of the doping issues. (above): 2020 Olympic Weightlifter Lasha Talakhadze (mens +109kg Winner) It's crazy to think that such an important and popular event at the Olympic Games may be cancelled given the history of the sport. Here's an article online describing the problem with Olympic Weightlifting. I'm not really sure whether I believe there are any "clean" athletes at the Olympic Games. To compete at such a high level, it's a bit naive to think athletes are winning by not taking performance enhancing drugs.
  2. Weightlifter Jakubovski going after a World Record Strict Press in the 242 lbs weight class. Failed lift due to not standing erect and locking out the arms. Looking at the photo I can clearly understand the reason why the strict press was eliminated from Olympic Weightlifting and left with two lifts only - Snatch and Clean & Jerk. I just wonder how many records were set while athletes performed lifts using this ultra cheating style! The lifter has clearly turned the Press into an Incline Bench Press attempt and thankfully failed. The Strict Press was eliminated from Olympic Lifting after the 1972 Olympic Games.
